Water Lilies started with this piece. I was watching a graduate student at UC Berkeley, whose name escapes me, work with this medium. She inspired me and I went out that day and bought a starter kit for gouache and put paint to the canvas that day. My idea was to get an abstract spin on a water scene with lilies and other vines growing upwards. I wanted it soft yet detailed. I found this piece to be so successful that I decided to make two more and create a triptych out of it. I loved trying this new medium and the outcome for me was a huge success.
